Tag Care
Our pet ID tags are made from quality brass blanks. Brass is a great choice for pet tags as it is hard wearing and perfect to show all of the fine details of metal stamping.
How can I clean my pet tags?
Brass is a natural metal and can tarnish. This is not a fault of the product, the patina is a natural tarnish on the surface of the metal and easily cleaned.
We send all our tags and keyrings with a polished finish but for your pets safety we do not coat them with any finishing chemicals.
The black lettering is filled with enamel. Over time, wear and tear and exposure to water can cause some fading. This can easily be filled in with a sharpie pen and buffed with a soft cloth. If you want to remove any tarnishing you can use fine steel wool, brass cleaner or even ketchup!
Your tags can be refreshed as often as needed.
Pet Tag Hardware and Use
Our ID tags all come with two stainless steel split rings. Please take extra care when attaching your tag to your pets collar or harness. The split rings are strong and they have no spring back, they need opening only very slightly. If the larger split ring remains open your tag will work it's way around and fall off.
Please never attach your dogs lead to the split ring of the tag, your collar or harness will have a D ring for this job.
